An Uncle's Request

Elijah's Uncle Nadir called today. He's stationed in Virginia now. He called to complain that this posting once every other week or so is just not cutting it. So here are a few fun shots aimed especially at Uncle Nadir. This first one is a big fat hug for you from Elijah:

Our Little Man

Elijah is almost 5 months old now and is really turning into a little man. Every morning I play with him and he is so smiley and fun. He lost a lot of his baby hair and Nasreen cut the extra off so now he is bald as you can see. He wore the outfit with the sandles to Nadia's 2nd birthday party (Saba's daughter). And then you can see his Easter outfit above with the bunny on it. We spent the day with his great Grandma Barca and Uncle Al that day. He loves watching Baby Einstein which is a DVD for kids, but we try not to let him watch it too much. We have been taking him out more now since it is warmer and he is older. We went to BW3s twice last week and he likes the noise and lights. We also went to two other places in the last week. He is really growing up fast and I am enjoying every second of it. ~Rob

Elijah is also fine-tuning his hand-eye coordination. He's now eyeing, reaching for, and grabbing his toys--even Rob's plate while he's eating (the mischief begins.) He had his first day at the park a few days ago. He loves being outdoors, so I try to get him out and about every chance I get with this weather. He laughs a hearty laugh when I tickle him. He can dance with me for a half hour straight! When I sing to him, he'll sometimes chime right in with a verse of his own. He loves when Rob plays him songs on the guitar, but only if he rocks out. None of those sappy ballads for him. He listens intently when I read to him, especially if it's lyrical. And, as if we're his personal court jesters, we find ourselves clowning around for him. If we're goofy enough, he'll make our day by flashing an impish smile (the kind that makes his eyes twinkle.) I swear, keeping him entertained sometimes takes all the energy of pulling off a one-man broadway show. But all in all, it seems nothing can compete with the sheer satisfaction he gets from sucking his fingers. Go figure. ~Nasreen

Welcome to Miami

Lounging by the pool...
Enjoying the cool breeze...
Ahhh, getting sleepy... He's out... Now, mom can catch a break!
We had a great time in Miami. The weather was gorgeous. Elijah is now four months old. He won't stop growing! He weighs about 15 lbs and is a little over 24 inches long. He became a pro at rolling over from his stomach on to his back while in Miami on a plush hotel bed. He also perfected his flirting abilities. He must've hit on every woman by the pool. Rob tried to get him into the pool, but Elijah made it very clear that he only swims in well-heated pools. He LOVES sitting out by the pool under a cabana though. Looking forward to it heating up a bit here in Chicagoland. ~Nasreen
